Sheriff David A Croft
What the Merrimack County Sheriff Office does .

Excerpt From The Sheriff's webpage telling a bit about himself. "From 1977 to 1983 I proudly served our country as a United States Marine, finishing my tour of duty as a Sergeant and mentor to new recruits.   Following my military service, I chose to serve my community and began a career in Law Enforcement, first as a Correctional Officer for Merrimack County, then as a part-time Police Officer for the town of Boscawen, NH.   I worked hard in Boscawen, eventually moving into a full-time position, becoming a Sergeant, and then being chosen to be Boscawen’s Chief of Police in 1997, proudly serving the town for over two decades.

After retiring in 2007, I was hired as the Director of the Alternative-to-Sentencing Program for the Merrimack County Attorney. In this position, I designed and implemented programs to assist adults in the criminal justice system and in rehabilitation.

As a former small town Police Chief I understand the difficulties and strains that come with the responsibility of leading the Sheriff's Department.  I work hard to stretch every dollar when managing a budget and strive to give taxpayers the services they deserve n the most efficient and cost-effective way possible.

I live with my family in the beautiful town of Salisbury.  We enjoy the outdoors and take pride in our roots in the great state of New Hampshire. I greatly appreciate the trust our citizens have placed in me to serve as Sheriff. "
